CHRISTIE'S DUBAI PREVIEW APRIL 17, 2001: MODERN CONTEMPORARY ARAB, IRANIAN AND TURKISH ART

On April 17, 2001 Christie's held a preview of the modern contemporary Arab, Iranian and Turkish art collection in the Godolphin Ballroom of Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel.
Food and refreshments were served and some guests could be overheard asking staff why there was no caviar :).

Here are the highlights with prices as indicated in Christie's public catalogue before the auction this week.

"Message/Messenger" by Abdulnasser Gharem (Saudi Arabian), $70,000-100,000.  This work was later sold for $842,500 at the auction and the proceeds went to Edge of Arabia's education program.
